Student Council
La Jolla Student Council
The purpose of the student council is:
  • To give students a voice for ideas related to decision making and school improvement
  • To give back through participation in service projects
  • To learn and practice leadership skills
  • To show a pride and commitment to their school and community
  • To give all students experience with democracy in action
Activities are designed to include students from all grade levels. Ideas for these school wide activities come from the students themselves, through student council representatives. Each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade class elects 2 representatives who attend bimonthly meetings. Meetings are held during lunch. Student council advisors are Mrs. Harvell, Mrs. Parker, and Miss Prows.
Student Council Officers & Elections
Fifth grade students serve as student council officers. Each fifth grade class nominates candidates for president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and historian. Candidates make a speech on La Jolla TV and participate in elections. Third, fourth, and fifth grade students register and vote for their favorite candidates.
